Project preparation and status

The twelve LGA PPP projects have been prepared drawing on detailed options analysis and community engagement conducted in accordance with the PPP Act 2010 (as amended). The Act provides the institutional framework for the implementation of PPP agreements between the public sector and private sector entities, sets out rules, guidelines and procedures governing PPP procurement, development and implementation and provides for other related matters.

The twelve LGA PPP projects have been approved by their City or Municipal Council and the President’s Office-Regional Administration and Local Government to proceed to the feasibility stage. A comprehensive explanation of each PPP project is provided in the project’s feasibility study, preliminary financial and economic model and community engagement report. The PPP projects were initiated with the assistance of the World Bank and the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development through the Tanzania PPP Support Program.
